Speed as the whole idea

The games on this hub are fan-made and inspired titles from licensed third-party providers; they are not official Sonic products, and nothing here is affiliated with or endorsed by the character's publisher. What the fan games take from the source is a single idea — going fast is the point, not the reward — and they build browser games around it. The label collects every game whose provider tag or title says sonic. The biggest group is runners: a blue hedgehog sprints on his own, you jump and duck, rings count as score, and the course loops, drops and launches you off springs at a pace that a platformer built around careful jumps never reaches. The run games hub has that genre without the hedgehog, and it is the closest neighbor on the site.

The platformers are the second group and the ones that feel most like the memory. They scroll sideways, the hero curls into a ball to roll downhill, momentum carries him up a loop if he entered it fast enough and drops him if he did not, and the rings scatter when he is hit, which is the fan games' favorite mechanic to keep because it is so forgiving: one ring means one more chance. Who it suits, and where to play

The shelf is safe for children: the hero bounces off enemies, rings scatter rather than anything worse, and a lost run restarts in a second. The runners are the easiest for the youngest players, since a single tap covers everything, and the platformers reward an older child or an adult who wants to learn a course well enough to finish it without slowing down. Nothing here is long; a fan platformer is a handful of levels, a runner is endless by design, and both save a best score or a checkpoint in the browser between visits. There is no install, no account and no launcher, which is the point of playing this kind of game in a tab between other things.

On a desktop the platformers use the arrows or WASD with the space bar to jump, and holding down curls into the spin that builds speed; on a phone the runners are the better choice, because a thumb tap is the whole control scheme and the course is built to be read in portrait. If you like the speed but want another skin, the parkour games hub has courses built for momentum, jumping games the pared-down reflex, and arcade games the short-round scores that the ring counter is really measuring underneath the blue fur. The one habit worth bringing from the source is trust: when a fan course throws you into a loop or off a spring, the right move is almost always to stop pressing keys and let the level carry you, because the designer built the arc to land.
