The look, not the platform

Roblox is a platform where people build and share their own games, and its boxy avatars became a style of their own. The games on this hub are third-party titles from licensed providers that borrow that style — fan-made and inspired, not made by, affiliated with or endorsed by the platform, and not connected to any account on it. What they share with the originals is the shape of play: an obby of floating platforms, a tower to climb, a lobby with a dozen mini-rounds, a noob character who dies a lot and respawns instantly.

The label collects games whose tag or title says roblox, and the biggest group by far is the obby. The dedicated obby games hub holds every jump course of that kind, and the noob games shelf follows the blocky beginner character through his other adventures.

Obbies, towers and survival rounds

An obby is an obstacle course seen from behind: jump the gap, dodge the spinning bar, time the disappearing tile, reach the checkpoint. Difficulty comes from stage design rather than enemies, and a fall costs only a walk back from the last checkpoint. Towers are obbies bent into a spiral where a fall can undo minutes of climbing, which is the point. Survival rounds — a falling floor, a wave of lava, a hide-and-seek — are short, loud and usually against computer players in the browser versions.

The obby shelf shares its bones with obstacle games and parkour games, and the build-anything titles lean toward the sandbox games and minecraft games hubs — third-party too, and in the same blocky family. Anything with a pixel-art rather than blocky look is more at home under pixel games.

Solo, on a phone, no login

Almost everything here is single-player or plays against bots, which is the biggest difference from the platform that inspired it: no friends list, no chat, no purchases. That makes the shelf simpler for parents — the content is jumping, falling and cartoon explosions — and it is a good match for the youngest players who like the look. Controls are WASD and the space bar on a desktop, a stick and a jump button on a phone, and the courses are short enough to finish in a few minutes.

Because the games come from many studios, the jump physics varies, and a course that feels floaty in one title may feel tight in the next; test the first few platforms before committing to a long tower.
