Driving first, racing second
A car game and a racing game are not quite the same thing. Racing has opponents and a finish line; a car game is about the car itself — threading traffic, holding a drift, easing into a parking bay, or finding out what a ramp does at full speed. The catalog's car label covers exactly that broader set, and the sections below split it by what you actually do with the wheel: parking puzzles, driving and traffic runs, and the titles where the race is the point.
For the podium-and-lap-timer end of the genre go to racing games, which also holds the bikes, trucks and off-road tracks; split-screen cars on one keyboard are under 2 player games; driving with a job attached — deliveries, taxis, a garage to run — shades into simulation games.

Keyboard, tilt or two thumbs
On a desktop almost every title steers with the arrow keys or WASD and brakes with the space bar; the start screen says which. On a phone the better games offer tilt steering or a pedal on each side of the screen, and the portrait titles — traffic runs and parking puzzles — are the ones built for a thumb. Damage models vary: arcade drivers shrug off walls, parking games end the level at the first scrape, and stunt maps are happiest when the car leaves the ground.
Nothing here downloads anything; a game that takes a while to start is loading a large 3D map, not installing.

Racing games have opponents, laps and a finish line. Car games are the wider set: parking puzzles, driving tests, traffic runs, stunt ramps and free-roam maps where nobody is timing you. The racing titles inside the car label are listed in their own section here and in full on the racing hub.
Can I play car games on my phone?

Yes. The player switches to touch controls — tilt or on-screen pedals — and the portrait-layout titles, mostly traffic runs and parking games, are the ones designed for a thumb. Large 3D maps take longer to load on mobile data but need no install.
Are car games suitable for children?

Most are: parking, driving-test and cartoon traffic games have no violence and simple controls. A few combat-car titles involve shooting from the vehicle; their own pages say so, and the racing and parking sections are the safe pick for younger players.
