Two shelves in one coffin

A vampire shelf splits down the middle, and it helps to know that before you open a game. One half is horror and action: survive until dawn against waves of the undead, hunt a count through his castle, fire a stake into whatever moves in the dark. The other half is softer than you might expect — dress-up games for a vampire bride, coloring pages of a fanged girl in a lace collar, memory boards of gothic portraits, a first-date story in a candlelit hall. The label collects everything whose provider tag or title says vampire or dracula, and the tags cut across genres, so the two halves sit side by side. The horror games are the ones most searches want. The largest kind is the survival run: you stand in a field or a graveyard, the undead pour in from every edge, and you last as long as you can while your weapons level up between waves. Vampire games play with a rulebook everyone half-remembers: sunlight burns, a stake through the heart ends things, garlic and running water are trouble, and an invitation matters. Good games use those rules as mechanics rather than decoration. A hunt game becomes a puzzle about opening curtains at the right moment; a stealth game about a vampire becomes a race against a clock that is the sunrise; a defense game turns garlic into a wall and holy water into a splash weapon. The count's castle — with its trapdoors, coffins and portraits whose eyes follow you — is the standard setting, and the escape-room titles set inside one belong as much to the escape games hub as to this one, with the same locked doors and hidden keys.

On a desktop the survival games use WASD or the arrows to move and often aim automatically, which is why they feel so good on a phone as well, where a single thumb steers and the game does the rest. Hunt and stealth games prefer a keyboard for the timing. The dress-up and coloring titles are made for touch and were probably designed on one.
