One rule, a hundred skins

A sorting game gives you a mixed set of things and asks for order. The most common form is the tube puzzle: a row of tubes filled with layers of colored liquid or stacked balls, one or two of them empty, and the rule that you may only pour a color onto the same color or into an empty tube. Solve it and every tube is a single shade. That one rule has been dressed a hundred ways — water, balls, hoops, cars, sushi, nuts and bolts, passengers boarding a bus — and the label collects all of them plus the older idea of sorting for its own sake: dropping trash into the right bin, filing mail by color, sending fruit down the correct chute before the belt speeds up. A calm genre for any screen

Sorting games are among the least demanding titles on the site.
