One creature, several kinds of game
Dragons are a theme that runs through the whole catalog rather than a genre of their own, and the games that carry the label fall into three shapes. In the flight games you are the dragon: one tap to flap or glide, breathe fire on whatever is ahead, and keep clear of towers and arrows. In the combat games the dragon is a boss, a mount or a summon, and the game underneath is a castle siege, a fantasy brawl or a turn-based battle. In the raising games the dragon is a pet — hatch an egg, feed it, merge two into a rarer one, and watch the island fill up.

The flight and run games are the quick ones: a side-scrolling sky, a single control, and a run that ends on the first wall. They are the closest thing to an arcade game here and the easiest to pick up on a phone. The combat games take longer and split by side — either you ride the dragon against a line of archers and catapults, or you play the knight against it, in which case the knight games hub has more of the same. Who dragon games suit, and on what
Most of the hub is cartoon fantasy and fine for children: the flight games, the pet-raising boards, and a good number of dragon coloring pages and dress-up toys that belong with coloring games. The combat titles are stylized fantasy violence — fire, arrows, fallen knights — with no gore, and the kids games hub is the filter to use if that matters. On a phone the flight and raising games are the natural fit — one tap or one drag. The siege and battle games are three-dimensional with a free camera and are more comfortable on a keyboard and mouse, though the touch versions run without a download like everything else on the site.
