Drift Games
Drift games in the browser: hold a car sideways through corners for points, chain slides across parking lots and mountain passes, and race the tracks where a controlled slide beats grip — mostly 3D, and at its best on a keyboard.

Sideways is the point
In a normal racing game a slide is a mistake you correct. In a drift game it is the score. You flick the car into a corner, hold it at an angle with the throttle and the counter-steer, and the game pays you for how long, how fast and how sideways you stayed — with a multiplier that keeps climbing as long as one drift flows into the next and resets the moment you straighten up or touch a wall. Some titles keep a finish line and add drift points as a bonus; the purer ones drop the race altogether and hand you a lot, a mountain pass or a docks area and a scoreboard.
Lap-and-podium racing without the sideways emphasis is on the racing games hub, and the broader driving catalog — parking, traffic, free roam — is under car games. This shelf keeps the games where the handbrake is a scoring tool rather than a brake.
Handbrake on the space bar
On a keyboard the layout is stable across the genre: arrow keys or WASD for throttle, brake and steering, the space bar for the handbrake that starts the slide, and often shift for a nitro boost. The technique is a tap of handbrake on entry, throttle to hold the angle, and small steering corrections against the slide; holding the handbrake through the whole corner is the beginner's mistake and ends in a spin. A mouse is never needed, and a steering wheel is not supported, so a laptop is enough.
On a phone the same games offer tilt or on-screen pedals with a handbrake button, in landscape, and the coordination is harder than with keys. The exception is the one-touch drifter: a top-down or isometric car that turns only while you hold the screen, built for a thumb in portrait and sharing its short-round feel with the casual games shelf. The full 3D titles ask more of a phone's graphics and take longer to load on mobile data.
Parking lots, mountain passes and traffic
The playgrounds repeat across the shelf. Open lots and docks are for learning and for chasing a high score with nothing in the way. Mountain roads and touge-style passes string corners together for long chains. City maps add traffic and, in a few titles, a police car that turns the session into a chase and shares a garage with the police games hub. Tandem modes put two cars on the same road, one leading and one following, and are the reason this shelf overlaps with two player games on a shared keyboard and with the online rooms of multiplayer games.
Most titles have a garage: cars to unlock, then tuning for power, grip and suspension, and paint and wheels that change nothing but the look. A stiffer setup drifts more willingly and is harder to catch; the defaults are forgiving on purpose. Expect a heavier load than on most driving pages, since a drift map is a full 3D environment, and expect the frame rate rather than the controls to be the limit on an older device.

How do I drift in a browser game?
Read moreShow less
Tap the handbrake — usually the space bar — as you turn into the corner, then keep the throttle on and steer gently against the slide to hold the angle. Let go of the handbrake once the car is sideways; holding it through the whole corner is what causes a spin. The score multiplier grows as long as one drift runs into the next.
Are drift games the same as racing games?

No. Racing rewards the fastest line and treats a slide as lost time; drifting rewards the slide itself, with points for angle, speed and how long it lasts. Some games combine the two, with a race and a drift bonus, and they appear on both shelves.
Can I drift with a phone?

Yes, with tilt or on-screen pedals plus a handbrake button, in landscape. It is harder than on a keyboard because three inputs have to be timed together. The one-touch drifters, where the car turns while you hold the screen, are made for a thumb and are the easier place to start on a phone.
Are there two-player drift games?

Some. Tandem modes put two cars on one road, either sharing one keyboard with a split screen or online in a room with other players. A game's page says which it supports; the single-player free-roam maps are the majority.
