Fan games, not the cartoon

Every game on this shelf is a third-party title from a licensed provider, fan-made or inspired by the cat-and-mouse cartoon rather than an official product, and nothing here is affiliated with or endorsed by the studio that owns the characters. What that means in practice is simple: you get the familiar faces and the slapstick tone, but the games themselves are ordinary browser genres wearing the costume. The biggest group is matching, with match-three boards, memory cards you flip in pairs and jigsaws you drag together, followed by coloring pages, dress-up scenes and spot-the-difference pictures. A couple of titles go further: a point-and-click escape and a two-character co-op platformer in which the cat and the mouse have to work together for once.

The matching boards play the way every match-three does: swap two neighboring tiles to line up three of a kind, clear the row and hit the level's target before the moves run out. A few are clicker hybrids that reward taps with points and upgrades instead of clearing a grid, and they are gentler. The memory games deal a face-down grid, let you flip two cards at a time and ask you to remember where each character sits; the difficulty menu sets the card count, and the smallest layouts suit a preschooler. Jigsaws come as a handful of pictures with a choice of piece counts, and the sliding-tile version swaps loose pieces for a scrambled frame you shuffle back into order.

Coloring pages, dress-up scenes and a step-by-step drawing lesson are the calm end of the shelf, and the coloring games and dress-up games hubs have the same formats with other casts. Spot-the-difference pictures hide a few changes between two panels; they are short, and the best pick for a child who cannot read yet.

Who they suit and where to play

These are children's games first. Nothing here needs fast reflexes, nothing punishes a wrong tap beyond a lost move, and the cartoon's falling-anvil violence never shows up in the games at all; the characters pose, grin and hold still while you match tiles around them. The controls are one finger or one mouse button in almost every title: tap, drag, flip. That makes a phone or tablet the natural place to play, and the portrait boards fit a small screen without zooming. The two exceptions are the co-op platformer, which wants a keyboard with one player on the arrows and the other on the letter keys, and the escape game, whose tiny hotspots are easier to hit with a mouse.

Adults who click through out of nostalgia usually stay for the memory grids, which get genuinely hard at the largest size.
