Bananas, vines and the jungle

Put a monkey in a game and you get a jungle, a banana and something to swing from; the shelf rarely strays from that. The largest group is small platformer games: hop between branches, collect the fruit, avoid the crocodile, reach the flag. Next come the swinging games, where the monkey grabs a vine or a hook and you release at the top of the arc to sail to the next one, and the endless jungle runners where the monkey sprints and you steer around logs.

The puzzle side is a surprise to most people. Who plays monkey games

Young children first: the character is funny, the goal is obvious and nothing bad happens beyond a fall into the river. Parents can hand over the phone without checking; the worst content on the shelf is a cartoon crocodile.
