Produced in-house at Netflix Animation, the film is scheduled for a release in select cinemas on June 24, 2022, before debuting on Netflix on July 8, 2022. On November 5, 2018, Netflix announced that Chris Williams will write and direct the animated movie Jacob and the Sea Beast.[1] On November 7, 2020, the film was retitled to The Sea Beast.[4]
